What the assessments are for
Each assessment helps you notice a current leadership pattern, examine several practical dimensions, and choose a small behavior to practise. Results are prompts for reflection—not permanent labels, employment evaluations, psychological tests, or professional diagnoses.
How questions are developed
We begin with a clearly defined workplace capability and a relevant academic or primary source. We translate that construct into three behavior-focused dimensions, then write ten statements that cover observable choices rather than identity or moral worth. Some items are reverse-scored to reduce automatic agreement.
How scoring works
Every response runs from “Never” to “Almost always” and receives a value from one to five. Reverse-worded items are scored in the opposite direction. Overall and dimension totals are normalized to a 0–100 scale. The three result bands are directional descriptions, not population percentiles or clinical thresholds.
Evidence and limitations
Every assessment names the principal source that informed its definition. The ten-question Melbado versions are original educational tools and have not been psychometrically validated. A high score does not prove effectiveness, and a low score does not diagnose a deficit. Self-report answers are affected by context, interpretation, mood, opportunity, and self-awareness.
Editorial standards
- Claims should be proportionate to the cited evidence.
- Leadership concepts should include meaningful limitations and potential misuse.
- Questions should avoid diagnosing health, personality, or protected characteristics.
- Advice should distinguish individual practice from organizational or structural responsibility.
- Material corrections should be made when credible evidence identifies an error.
